1. Get festive at NZ Fringe Festival

Enjoy one of the best festivals in Wellington as it continues until March 11. The New Zealand Fringe Festival 2023 is the perfect place to dive into endless arts events from quirky performances such as Hell School: The Musical and Truth Be Told, interactive activities and much more for creatives.

2. Laugh with Micheal McIntyre
On March 22 and 23 , see the UK’s biggest comedy star, Micheal McIntyre, for his record-breaking, stand-up comedy show – Jet-lagged and Jolly. The show stars at 8pm and if you haven’t got a ticket, perhaps, you’ll get one now. Certainly, one of the best things to do this March.

3. Dance at a new festival

Summer Session at Basin is one the newest one-day music festivals to hit Wellington on March 4. Located at Basin Reserve, enjoy the best of New Zealand’s top musicians, and outdoor games, alongside delicious food and refreshing drinks, from beers to gin & tonics – hopefully in the sunshine.

4. Cupa Duba
On March 25 and 26, experience New Zealand’s most creative and diverse street music festival. Normally, it attracts over 100,000 people to Cuba Street for a colourful weekend of fun, experience innovation and culture and jamming to iconic tunes. This event is totally family-friendly and is free of charge.

Newtown Festival is another wonderful festival happening on March 5. It just so happen’s to be free-of-charge, so all you’ll need to pay for is your food and drink while you enjoy a range of stalls, dance to indie, pop and rock music, and much more.

Te Whanganui-a-Tara is a huge new interactive exhibition exploring Wellington’s history and culture through a large-scale timeline, dating back to the Te Orokohanga. Developed with Wellington-based artists, creatives and scientists, it tells stories right up to the pandemic of today.
