The World’s Best Desserts And Where To Find Them In Wellington

Because calories don’t count when it comes to dessert.

When it comes to a good dessert, we can all say that no matter how full we are, we can always make room for it. That’s because desserts are a heavenly part of life and offer us a mood booster whenever we are feeling rough. From rich chocolate brownies, to traditional pavlovas, Belgian waffles and more, Wellington is popping with some of the most delightful global desserts ready to be swallowed by you. Here are eight of our favourite desserts from around the world and where to find them in Wellington.

1. Belgian Waffles

Larger than regular waffles, Belgian waffles have deeper pockets, perfect for holding mountain loads of ingredients, from Nutella, to maple syrup, ice-cream, sweets and more. Luckily, Dessert lovers can get their fix at a couple of Wellington joints. We recommend trying The Little Waffle Shop or Le Belle Waffle, which are both skilled at dishing up some authentic traditional Belgian waffle desserts. In both places, you can customise your waffles to be smothered in dark chocolate, salted caramel, biscuits, just to name a few.

2. Spanish Churros

This Spanish dessert is a fried dough with a fluffy inside and goes down heavenly paired with hot chocolate sauce. Indeed, we know it is already a popular go-to dessert in Wellington, but have you had some of the most authentic ones? We think Santo Churros in Harbourside Market is a must-visit to level up your churros experience. Brazilians Julio and Fabio have a delicious recipe from Spain giving them the ability to make the best filled, loaded and original Churros in town.

This beautiful Italian dessert is made of ladyfingers dipped in coffee, layered with a mixture of eggs, sugar, mascarpone cheese and flavoured with cocoa. A slice of Tiramisu is the pick-me-up you need whenever you’re feeling blue. It just so happens that the folks over at Nicolini’s Bistro cater up a rich mean portion of goodness that has rave reviews. Our mouths are watering at the the sight of the picture above.
