Perfect activities for summer!
Waiheke Island is the place to be as we see out the last of the summer. It’s getting a swanky new Gin Distillery And Garden Bar, opening up on January 23 – which just happens to be NZ National Gin Day! [Featured Image: Waiheke Distilling Co.].
Waiheke Distilling Co. is the all-new spot offering visitors an idyllic spot to see how gin is made, as well as trying some of their unique products.
The distillery sits on the ridge above Cowes Bay, and is built in a way that emphasises the farming history of the area. Waiheke’s Distillery garden takes visitors through the process of how the gin is produced, bottled and poured into their glasses.
In the garden, you’ll also be treated to the wonderful views across the ocean on the bay. And, a cocktail will make it just that bit more spectacular, eh?
As for their gins, they come in three forms. “Red Ruby” blends red cherries into its dry flavour to give it a summer splash; “Spirit of Waiheke” is their classic island dry gin, needing only some tonic and lime; and “London Dry” adds their own lemon note to the classic style.
These are perfect to drink in the gin garden with a cheese and fresh fruit platter. Guests can also order bottles of prosecco to their tables upon arrival.
Waiheke Distillery’s garden capacity is 75, and they recommend booking online beforehand. Find more information about the new distillery at their website.
