New Zealand is the tenth happiest country globally for 2023, according to the World Happiness Report 2023.
The report has been revealed yearly for a decade. The 2023 report, by the UN Sustainable Development Solutions Network, was based on global data from people in more than 130 countries around the world.
The report measured happiness over a three year period between 2020 and 2022. It considered factors such as standard of living, GDP, social support, education, life expectancy, level of corruption, and more which played a vital role in rank markings.
Overall, Finland came in first, for the sixth year in a row, with a score of 7.8, in the 2023 report as the world’s happiest nation. Followed by Denmark at 7.6, and Iceland with a score of 7.5. Israel ranked fourth, while the Netherlands took fifth place. Meanwhile, our beloved nation came in at 10th place, with a score of 7.1, out of 137 entries.

Interestingly, New Zealand was the only Asia-Pacific country to make the top 10. Meanwhile, Australia came in at 12th place on the list. While in neighbouring Asia, Singapore and Taiwan are the two happiest countries, according to the report.
