When Garage Project began its beer-making journey, it was a pint-sized production—just two brothers and a mate working out of a defunct petrol station. Since those early days, it has grown and become one of Wellington’s craft beer success stories producing thousands upon thousands of litres of beer and exporting cleverly-crafted brews internationally.
However, what made Garage Project great was its keen risk-taking and desire to try something new. Thankfully, that ethos remains and is on full display at their Wild Workshop Cellar Door and tasting room in Wellington, which is where you can pick up a flight of beer for just $16 on Fridays and Saturdays from November 18.

At Garage Project’s beer-tasting experience at their Wild Workshop Cellar Door, punters will get to taste four interesting and unusual beers. From wild and spontaneous ferments to barrel-aged concoctions as well as fruity and blended brews, there’ll be a beer for every taste bud to try and feel its tingle.
The cellar door has eight beers on tap, constantly rotating so that you’ll generally find something new to taste. As of the time of writing, you can find a hazy IPA and Pale Ale as well as a Sour, Pilsner and a pretty special release that blends lemongrass, kaffir lime lead and grapefruit peel meld with Venusian Spear fungus.
And when you’re not too sure what to go for, or what you’re tasting, Garage Project’s knowledgeable staff are more than capable of guiding you through the flavour profiles, processes and what to try next. Perhaps, an exclusive pour?
You’ll need a ticket to partake in the Wild Workshop Beer Tasting Sensory Exploration at Garage Project’s Cellar Door, but getting one is as easy as clicking on the Tickets link below and following the steps. Then, all you’ve got to do is rock up to the Wild Workshop Cellar Door on Fridays and Saturdays from 4pm to claim your flight of beer. This offer will be available until 17 December.
For those that like a nibble or a snack while they drink, Garage Project does do tasting platters as well as delicious toasties which you can order on the day. Oh, and once you’ve found the beer that you like best, grab a hold of a flagon to take home. And, come back next weekend for more beer flights and more beers.
