Since opening in 2021, Elixir Bar and Restaurant has been gaining a dedicated following of foodie lovers and cocktail enthusiasts. The bar and restaurant on Chews Lane specialises in top-shelf spirits and then being able to mix them to perfection while the kitchen is all about flawless excellence, presentation and quality ingredients creating sumptuous dishes.
Their Golden Hour, serving up shucked oysters and special prices and other small bites, has become a favourite among friends. So too has their confit duck wings which have survived menu changes. However, today we’re here to talk to you about Elixir’s collab with Whitehart Kurobuta because it’s a night to look forward to if you’re a fan of pork—and not just any pork, but some of the best pork in the world.
On Saturday 26 November, the chefs at Elixir will be breaking down an entire Whitehart Kurobuta pig into five delectable courses, using everything from the snout to the trotters, and making sure that your mouth is watering. Five courses, though, is just the beginning because we hear that there will be extras as nothing will be going to waste.
Unfortunately, we don’t have much more detail on what to expect but when it comes to Kurobuta pork, we do know that you can expect the best. For those not in the know, that’s quality and the reason why it has come to be known as the “the Wagyu of pork” or, in some cases, “the Kobe beef of pork.”
Whitehart Kurobuta farms their pigs with the New Zealand Southern Alps in the background but uses Japanese techniques to ensure more marbling to produce more flavourful, tender and juicy cuts. There are no dry tenderloins to swallow here.
Dinner guests will first be welcomed with a drink on arrival as well as be given the option of adding a glass of wine to their meal and a mezcal to pair with the food.
